Bruner Orthodontics Update Regarding Covid-19 Closure

We closed our practice on March 19th, following a proclamation from Gov. Inslee asking all dental offices to close in order to preserve personal protective equipment (PPP) for hospitals and in order to flatten the curve (decrease the SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 infection rate). Dentistry did not close because it is unsafe to be seen by your dentist. At Bruner Orthodontics we do what all dentist offices do -- we use universal precautions, wear PPE, follow infection control guidelines and we utilize hospital grade sterilization methods. Dental care is one of the safest environments you can be in and orthodontic care has the lowest risk of all dental services because orthodontists can do their jobs without creating aerosols. You should feel safe going to the dentist or orthodontist.

Dentistry is an essential service and has always been recognized as such. Bruner Orthodontics remained open for emergencies and we have spent time every day calling all of our scheduled patients. Our goal was to touch base and connect with our patients, give them an action they could take by sending photos, reviewing progress, or asking questions, and to reassure them that their treatment is progressing as planned by Dr. Helgen and Dr. Bruner.

As of April 29th, Governor Inslee issued an interpretive statement making it clear that dentists can see their patients if their professional judgement deems it necessary.

We have been calling and texting our patients to schedule urgent appointments -- things that will help take care of people in active treatment where time is of the essence. We will continue to care for you as we would our own families. And we can't wait to see you in the office soon!!

Bruner Orthodontics Update Re: COVID-19 Closure

During this difficult time we can't stop thinking about our patients and their families. We hope you all are staying healthy and safe. We want to be sure we keep you up to date. So in case you missed our letter, this is from an email that went out to our entire patient base last week:

To our Dear Bruner Ortho Family,

Our office is temporarily closed in accordance with Governor Inslee’s mandate. We hope to re-open on or before May 18th, 2020.

No one in our office is sick and we have been safely and effectively, with precaution, taking great care of each and every one of our patients. However, to help stop the spread of COVID-19 we have been ordered to stop seeing orthodontic patients. In light of this global pandemic and the serious nature of its consequences, it is okay for your orthodontic treatment to wait until it is safe to see you.

If you have a scheduled appointment during this time you should expect a phone call from Dr. Bruner, Dr. Helgen, or one of our team members in the weeks surrounding your appointment.

Both Dr. Bruner and Dr. Helgen will be available by text or phone should you need to talk to them.

Thank you for your understanding, patience and wisdom. We look forward to seeing you back in the office soon!

With your best in mind,

The Bruner Orthodontic Team
